Nicostratus

Quartigod son of Helen and Menelaus per the post-Homeric tradition that Homer's "Hermione only" claim was incomplete. The most-securely-attested of Helen's lesser-known sons: Apollodorus names him explicitly, Hesiod is cited via the Sophocles scholiast, and the scholiast on Iliad 3.175 records active Lacedaemonian hero-cult at Sparta worshipping him alongside Aethiolas. Pausanias preserves a competing tradition that Nicostratus was Menelaus's son by a slave-woman, not Helen — the registry treats the Helen-mothered tradition as primary per Apollodorus.
