Mortal first king of the Troad and eponym of the Teucrians, in the local tradition son of the river Scamander and the nymph Idaea. He received Dardanus on his arrival from Samothrace, gave him land and his daughter Batea as wife, and at his death the country was renamed Dardania. He is the King Teucer named in the registry Dardanus entry. Distinct from the later Teucer the archer, son of Telamon.
