Sutasoma

Hindu · quartigod · dvapara yuga · quartigod

Second of the five Upapāṇḍavas. Quartigod-tier son of Bhīma (Vāyu-paternal demigod) by Draupadī; half-brother through their shared father Bhīma to Ghaṭotkaca (by Hiḍimbā) and Sarvaga (by Bālandharā). Killed in the Sauptika-massacre. The name Sutasoma also became canonically associated with the Old Javanese kakawin Sutasoma (Mpu Tantular, c. 1365 CE) which sources its protagonist-name from the Mahābhārata figure but develops an entirely independent Buddhist-narrative cycle.
