Her abduction causes the Tarakamaya war, in which the gods and the asuras take opposite sides over a marriage — the one Hindu war that is neither a dynastic quarrel nor a demon-slaying. The record does not narrate it, because the treatment consulted gives the abduction, the return, the birth and the paternity dispute and not the war. She is also the figure lane 16 named as the type case: the corpus held the god and not the household, and Soma stood in it with no wife.
