Scion-tier Minamoto clan head, Rokujō Judge. Fought on the losing Sutoku-Yorinaga side at the Hōgen Rebellion of 1156; his own son Yoshitomo fought on the opposite winning side. Beheaded by Yoshitomo on imperial order after the rebellion — the canonical-Japanese filial-tragic-execution scene preserved in the Hōgen Monogatari. The execution closes the post-Genpei-cycle three-generation tragic frame: father Yoshitada killed by uncle 1109; Tameyoshi beheaded by own son 1156.
