Mortal Svan, eldest natural son of Sulkalmakhi and Darejan; elder foster-brother of Amirani. Distinctive in the Svan recension for being described in feminizing-beauty language ("as gentle and as lovely as a virgin maid"), contrasting with Amirani's warrior-physicality. One of the heroic-trio (Amirani, Badri, Usup) that defeated the three-headed serpent-giant and aided Amirani in his Black Dragon escape. Killed during the bride-quest sequence; his death (with Usup's) is the structural pivot triggering Amirani's failed suicide attempt and his turn toward confrontation with Ghmerti.
