Aldauhuíku, lord of cultivation

Kogi · deity · Kogi traditional religion; continuing · deity

Aldauhuíku is one of the Four Fathers, the founding lords born of the Great Mother who order the world and preside over its domains. He is specifically associated with cultivation: the sources place him in charge of the rituals connected with cultivated fields and with wild-growing fruits, making him the divine guarantor of agricultural and forest fertility within the Kogi ritual economy. As a son of the Mother he stands as brother to the other founding lords, including the first ancestor Sintana and the law-giver Seukúkui.
