Sintana is the first ancestor of Kogi tradition, the first man, born of the Great Mother and dwelling on the shore of the primal sea. He is the progenitor of humanity: the sources record that the union of the Mother with her son Sintana, and the subsequent unions among their offspring, gave rise to the human lineages of the Sierra Nevada. As one of the Mother's sons he belongs to the company of founding lords who order the world and establish its lineages, animals, colours and soils, and he is remembered as a being of solar and jaguar associations of the first importance.
