Koubru (Koupalu) is the Meitei guardian god of Mount Koubru in northern Manipur and one of the four cardinal Umang Lai of Sanamahism — the guardian of the north-western direction (the Maikei Ngakpa Lai). He dwells on the mountain's summit with his consort, the goddess Kounu; Mount Koubru is a major pilgrimage site of the tradition. With Thangjing, Marjing and Wangbren he forms the four-fold guardianship of the cardinal directions invoked in Meitei ritual.
