Sky, called Ammaya, is the primordial male principle of Mohave cosmogony, who with Earth forms the first parental pair. In the beginning, before the ordered world, Sky and Earth came together at the western horizon, and from their union the creator brothers Matavilya and Mastamho were born. Sky and Earth are named as the ultimate origin of the divine beings but recede from the narrative once their offspring begin the work of creation.
