The most consequential absence in the Norse part of this corpus. Sigurd is in the registry and is called the dragon-slayer; the dragon was not there to be slain. Fáfnir is also the clearest statement the Norse material makes about money: a man who takes gold he will not share turns into an animal that can do nothing with it but lie on it, and the word for his kind of dragon is the ordinary word for a snake.
