Akhsartæg

Ossetian · mortal · cosmogonic · mortal

Younger twin son of Wærxæg; valor-bearer-eponym; killer of his twin brother Akhsar in the foundational fratricide-tragedy of the Nart cosmogony. Husband of Dzerassae; father of Uryzmæg, Khæmyts, and Satana. The Æhsærtæggatæ lineage descended from him is the central Nart heroic clan, encompassing Uryzmæg (head of the Narts in the heroic age), Khæmyts (father of Batraz), Satana (the foundational Nart matriarch), and through them the steel-hero Batraz. His death is followed by Dzerassae's death and the posthumous birth of Satana from Dzerassae's tomb — the Akhsartæg-Dzerassae death-pair structurally completes the cosmogonic generation and inaugurates the heroic age proper.
