Antevorta

Roman · numen · regal · numen

Antevorta takes the child that comes head first. She and Postvorta divide between them the two ways a birth can present, which is a very Roman distribution of divine labour — the danger is split into its cases and each case gets a goddess. Both are counted among the four Camenae, whose sphere runs from childbirth through springs to prophecy, and the forward-turning of Antevorta's name was also read as knowledge of what is to come.
