Thitmanat
Canaanite · mortal · heroic age · mortal
Thitmanat is called 'the eighth' because she is, and the epic makes a point of El having blessed Kirta so that the youngest would hold the rank of the firstborn — which is the kind of clause that turns up again in a great deal of later Near Eastern literature. Her scene at the sickbed is what the Kirta epic is remembered for outside specialist reading: a daughter weeping over a father who is not supposed to be able to die, because a king is a son of El, and finding out that he can.
