Yassib is the point of the whole epic and he arrives in the last surviving lines. Kirta fought a war to get a wife to get an heir; the heir grows up; the king falls ill and is saved by a goddess El made out of nothing; and then the heir walks in and tells his father that a king who could not get out of bed cannot judge the widow's case or feed the orphan, so he should abdicate. Kirta curses him, invoking Horon and Athtart, and the tablet breaks off. It is an unusually adult piece of writing for the Bronze Age: the boy is not wrong, and the poem does not say he is.
