Mortal — daughter of Eetion king of Cilician Thebe, wife of Hector and mother of Astyanax; the archetype of the devoted wife. Her farewell with Hector at the Scaean Gate (Iliad 6) and her lament over his body (Iliad 22, 24) are among the most famous scenes in Homer. Enslaved at Troy's fall to Neoptolemus, later wife of the seer Helenus and queen in Epirus — the post-war survivor of the Trojan royal women.
