Hector

Greek · scion · trojan war · scion

Scion (the divine Dardanid blood much diluted by Priam's generation) — eldest son of Priam and Hecuba, heir and great defender of Troy, the noblest of the Trojans and the tragic counterweight to Achilles. Husband of Andromache and father of Astyanax; the wall-farewell of Iliad 6 is the poem's domestic heart. He killed Patroclus and took Achilles' armour, and was himself killed by Achilles before the Scaean Gate, his body dragged round the walls and ransomed by Priam in Iliad 24. The existing figure greek_achilles is his slayer (see UPDATE-NEEDED).
