Half-divine son of Boreas the north wind by the Athenian princess Oreithyia; twin of Zetes; one of the winged Boread twins of the Argonautic complement. The Phineus-rescue episode (chasing the Harpies south to the Strophades) is the central Boread aristeia of the Argonautica. Killed by Heracles on Tenos in retaliation for the Mysia-abandonment — buried with grave-stones that swayed in the wind in honor of their father Boreas, per Apollodorus.
