Chione the Boread
Greek · numen · heroic age · Recorded classification
Numen — the Boread snow-nymph, fourth child of Boreas (greek_hesiod_boreas) and Oreithyia (greek_oreithyia); mother of Eumolpus (greek_eumolpus, authored in this batch) by Poseidon. DISTINCT from greek_chione (daughter of Daedalion, mother of Autolycus and Philammon) — a separate figure sharing only the snow-name; this Boread Chione is explicitly named as a sibling in the prose of greek_cleopatra_boread ('and of the Boreid Chione, mother of Eumolpus by Poseidon'). Her existing parents Boreas and Oreithyia each carry a dangling father-of/mother-of -> undefined that this entry resolves. Benthesicyme (Eumolpus's foster-mother) lacks an entry and is named rather than wired.
