Numen — a Pleiad, daughter of the Titan Atlas and the Oceanid Pleione, dwelling on Samothrace. By Zeus she is the ancestress of the entire Trojan royal house: mother of Dardanus (founder of the Dardanians) and Iasion. The fully-divine, non-Olympian ancestress whose presence makes the Dardanid line compute divinity by blood — the canonical case the old parentage rule excluded. In Ovid she is the faded seventh star of the Pleiades, who covered her face rather than watch Troy burn.
