Abhimanyu

Hindu · quartigod · dvapara yuga · quartigod

Quartigod son of Arjuna (Indra-paternal demigod) by Subhadrā (Krishna's sister). The Chakravyuha-breach death on day 13 of the Kurukshetra war is one of the most-cited tragic-injustice episodes in the entire Hindu tradition: the in-utero-learning of the entry-pattern but not the exit, the day-13 isolation when his fellow Pandavas were stopped at the gate by Jayadratha's Shiva-boon, the dharma-yuddha violation by six simultaneous attackers, and the resulting Arjuna pratijñā that drove the Jayadratha-vadha on day 14. Father of Parikshit by Uttarā — through Parikshit, ancestor of Janamejaya at whose snake-sacrifice the Mahābhārata is canonically narrated by Vaiśampāyana, making Abhimanyu the structural-genealogical hinge between the war-narrative and the frame-narrative of the epic itself.
