Quartigod son of Arjuna (Indra-paternal demigod) by Ulūpī (nāga princess). The half-nāga maternal blood marks him as the canonical liminal-Pāṇḍava-line figure. Killed by Alambuṣa on day 8 of Kurukshetra in the BORI Critical Edition; the Tamil-tradition Kūttāntavar cult expansion (Villiputtūr Āḻvār's Tamil Bhāratam, c.14th c.) develops his self-sacrifice-as-kalappali-with-the-Mohinī-marriage as the central narrative of the modern Aravan/Kūttāntavar transgender-religious-festival tradition at Koovagam in Tamil Nadu — but the underlying BORI death-by-Alambuṣa is the primary attestation.
