Hoori
Japanese · deity · kamiyo · deity
Three generations from the descent to the first emperor and the middle one was missing from the registry entirely. The story is a folk-tale — a lost borrowed tool, a journey to an undersea palace, a wife who must not be watched — welded to a dynastic genealogy, and the weld is visible: the fish-hook has nothing to do with kingship and everything to do with why the hunter's line ended up on top of the fisherman's.
