Lidagat
Visayan · deity · Visayan traditional religion; continuing · deity
Lidagat is the personified calm sea, daughter of the sea deity Magwayen. Wedded to the wind Lihangin, she bears the four children of the Visayan cosmogony. Her stillness set against her husband's restless motion, she perishes with him of grief after their sons are struck down by the sky. Her name is the Bisaya word dagat, 'sea.'
