Ptolemy I Soter

Founder of the Ptolemaic kingdom in Egypt. Conventionally the son of Lagus and Arsinoe; Pausanias also reports a claim that Philip II was his father. Greek poetry presents his deification and Heraclean descent. His Egyptian titulary invokes Re and Amun as royal patrons, not as his biological parents.
